The United States Mint surprised collectors Friday with the return of both proof and uncirculated American Eagle Platinum coins carrying the "W" mintmark. Both platinum series were pulled from the Mint online shelves in early August with the expectation their prices would be reduced to be more in line with falling platinum prices.
