Antiques and Collectables – The Collectors Blog

Well, it’s officially 2010. When I was a kid, I imagined we’d all be flying around in space and getting into lightsaber fights by now, but the most futuristic thing we have is the iPhone and the Wii. Not a bad start, mind you, but it’s just not quite how I pictured the future.

Still, I just wanted to take this time to wish all of my readers a very happy new year! We had a lot of great action figures hit the shelves in 2009 and it looks like 2010 may be even better with even more releases from Mattel and Hasbro, along with such tantalizing morsels as McFarlane’s fully articulated Prince of Persia line and Jazwares upcoming A-Team movie figures.

All across the vast landscape of action figure blogs and forums, people have been declaring their favorite figures and figure lines of 2009 (I am no exception), and I’m sure that more will hit soon in the coming week. I rather liked this list from Figures.com, although I didn’t agree with it entirely (I just can’t get into Minimates), but for a list of just superhero figures, it’s pretty good.

Anyway, I hope that 2010 finds everyone happy and healthy. May your collections grow, may you find those figures you’ve searched for forever (City Strike Snake Eyes, where are you?!) and may your spouses/significant others/parents/roommates not get too annoyed with all of your shelves full of killer toys. Happy New Year, everyone!
